I recently was lucky enough to photograph two school-related events: one that seemed to mark the beginning of a new journey and one that seemed to wrap up one chapter in life.
Chloe and Caitlyn wanted some photos to commemorate their completion of Master’s degrees at Syracuse University. We had a perfect Sunday morning to shoot on the school’s campus–no rain, no gloomy Syracuse clouds, just bright blue sunny skies. The session went really well; we got portraits in front of the famous Hogwarts building (officially known as Crouse Hall), on the steps leading up to the Hall of Languages, and under the trees around the campus. The toughest part, actually, was jostling for position at these SU landmarks; there were at least a half-dozen other groups taking graduation pictures. It was a lot of fun working with Chloe again (we did some work in the studio last year) and meeting Caitlyn. Congratulations ladies on finishing your school and best of luck as you begin your new careers.
The next weekend I took photos at the Cicero-North Syracuse Junior Prom. It was a completely different vibe than the peaceful and quiet session at SU. There was the excitement of hundreds of teenagers experiencing their first taste of an adult-like formal gathering. Lots of energy. Lots of fancy dresses and tuxedos. Lots of chicken fingers and churros! The dance floor at Embassy Suites at Destiny was packed all night. I didn’t venture into the center of the dance storm, but I did manage to get some great shots along the edges.
Overall, a fantastic couple of experiences.
